Ed Holtz and Luann Bauer Holtz (written i Luann’s words ☺)

After graduation Ed began at Gleason Works in Rochester. He was drafted into the US Army in September of 1967, and returned home in September of 1969. He resumed his job at Gleason Works as a machinist and retired after 44 years in June of 2009.

Ed and I began dating just before he went into the Army and married in November of 1971. We purchased our first home in 1975 in Farmington and lived there 20 years. While we lived there we were blessed with two sons, Kevin and Steven. In May of 1995, after a year of renovating the home which was originally Ed’s grandparents’, we moved to the Holtz family farm on Holtz Road in Farmington.

Our sons are both married, have absolutely lovely wives, and each has a son and a daughter, ages ranging from newborn to almost seven. Kevin and his family live just down the road and Steve and family live three miles from us. Perfect!!!!

I graduated from Rochester Business Institute in 1966 with a legal secretarial degree, worked for a law firm in Rochester for eleven years, leaving when our first son was due. After being a stay-at-home mom for several years, I worked as a substitute secretary at VCS for a couple of years, then nine years as secretary at our church in Pumpkin Hook. In 1998 I began a secretarial position with The NYS Dept. of Labor for eight years, following that five years as a keyboard spec at the Canandaigua Day Program for people with disabilities, retiring in January 2012.

Ed and I are enjoying our retirement, spending time with our kids and the grandkids, including our newest grandson born April 1st! Life has been good and we feel very blessed.
