It’s been an interesting journey through these 50 years. After high school and college, my nursing career started as a hospital nurse (first in hi-tech critical care and then in low-tech work with mothers and babies). More and more education (I always liked school). About 15 years ago, I moved from hands-on nursing care to university faculty. The best part of the faculty role has been doing research, which I continue to do. I have lived in many places and traveled to a lot more, mostly in Asia, sometimes for pleasure and sometimes for work. This all started in 1979 when I answered the call for nurses to work in the UN camps receiving Cambodian refugees escaping the ‘Killing Fields’, since then I have continued to seek out other adventures. During my life, I have enjoyed being a mother the most of all! I have an amazing son, a daughter-in-law better than I could ever imagine, and a truly beautiful granddaughter. They are the lights in my life!
