Biography for John North, Class of 1965
I have never married, so I have no wife or children to talk about. I do have a small group of very close friends whose friendships I cherish and enjoy.
I worked on the family farm for only a year after high school. I went to work at the Bar-Car Machine Company from 1966 until 1973. Then I worked at the CVS Pharmacy warehouse and distribution center in Victor - a wonderful employer. I was there for almost 24 years, starting as shipping coordinator, then as inventory control, and finally as a fleet truck mechanic. After CVS, I worked for the electronic assembly company Val-U-Tech, and retired in 2001.
After my parents, aunt and uncle passed away, my sister and I sold the farm to the State of New York for the State Historic Preservation Site of Ganondagan. I own the house and two acres across the road from the farm, and have lived there since 1976.
I enjoy and have shown my cars at various shows, and I am a member of the Chrysler 300 Club of America, the Chrysler 300 Club International, the Antique Automobile Club of America, the Automobile License Plate Collectors Association, the Rochester Corvette Club, and the National Corvette Restorers Society. I am a founding member of both the Western New York Chapter of the National Corvette Restorers Society and the National Corvette Museum. I have been honored to receive two national level awards by the National Corvette Restorers Society - the hard to achieve and very prestigious "Zora Arkus Duntov Mark of Excellence Award", and the "Bow Tie" Award. In 1992, Vette Magazine did a feature article on my 1971 Corvette.
